Benjamin Francis Leftwich Indie, Acoustic If you're into chill, more mellow types of acoustics, definitely give these songs a try. His voice is so nice to listen to and his songs are extremely catchy.

Bayside Punk Rock, Alternative This band is great if you're more into bands like Brand New and La Dispute. Bayside has a great amount of bass and drums in their songs, but the vocals are strong, which balances each other out. If you are like me, and don't like "loud" music, ease into their music by listening to their acoustics rather than the originals.

I Will Follow You Into The Dark (Cover) -- To get an idea of their acoustics.
Paul Baribeau Acoustic, Folk Rock This man. Oh my. His lyrics, his voice, his guitar playing, everything is just perfect. What I love the most is how raw his songs are, they're not audio corrected, nothing. It's like if you were to close your eyes, you feel like you're right there in the same room with him.

The Smiths Alternative, Indie Okay, so we all probably know who The Smiths are after Zooey Deschanel mentioned them in 500 Days of Summer, so if you don't know who they are...well..okay then. I really like how unique Morrissey's voice is and how they have such "psychedelic" feeling the melodies in their songs are, and if you were to sit down and read the lyrics, you a song that actually means something, it's not just words attached to a couple of beats anymore, it's an actual song that means something..and I like getting that out of songs that I listen to, it makes them more pure.

Meat is Murder (Just because this song was what made me love The Smiths even more)
Regina Spektor Alternative, Anti-Folk Lets just take a second to appreciate the beauty of her voice. Not only does Regina write wonderful songs, but her piano skills, I mean, can we say: amazing??!? I love how her songs are so different from how most artists are now-a-days. I envy her talent, but am so grateful for it because her songs just has a way of lifting up my day.
Songs to listen to:
Manchester Orchestra Indie Rock, Alternative I can literally (and have) listen to Manchester Orchestra all day. There's something about their music that just makes everything better. Ugh, and Andy Hulls voice is like butter melting on hot toast. Each of the songs have so much meaning to them, they kind of just make you want to sit down and appreciate everything around you. I've been listening to them for so long and they've helped me so much, so I'm hoping they do they same for you, too.
Songs to listen to:
Mumford and Sons Indie Folk Let's just put aside the fact that they got popular and appreciate them for now on. Mumford and Sons was the main reason why I began to lean towards more indie and folk genres, and guys, they have a BANJO, you definitely don't see bands on MTV like that...ever. It's just so different and diverse and powerful in each song and it just makes me so happy to listen to them.
Songs to listen to:
Sufjan Stevens Indie Folk To see Sufjan Stevens live one day would be a total dream, his music reminds me of a parade of happiness, I don't know why. I feel like if any of his songs were featured in like, Glee, or something, it would slowly ease into a crowd of people just singing and twirling and all happy looking..well, at least most of his songs. Okay. Just. Just listen to him and you'll see.
Songs to listen to:
Iron and Wine Folk Rock Aw, guys, we're almost done! (It's like 3:10 AM right now...okay) If you ever need some nice tunes to fall asleep to or just lay in bed and stare at the ceiling, this is for you. His voice is seriously all sorts of dreamy, it's just unreal. His songs are just, ugh. They're so great. I'm at a lost of words to even explain.
